Naked Rain

rain-3

“Mom, mom, listen to this!” Boston shouted to me.

“Okay!” I happily replied.

“Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day. If you don’t, I don’t care. I will TAKE OFF YOUR UNDERWEAR!”

She then burst into an array of giggles, to which her little brother gladly joined in.

“A boy at my school taught me this song, mom!”

“Boston,” my husband finally said after about the tenth time singing, “It’s not really nice to say you will take off a person’s underwear.”

“No dad. It’s okay. I’m not talking about a person. I’m talking about the rain!” She then burst into song once more.

It is officially beginning over here. The school songs and chants; the learning from the other kids on the playground.

My baby girl is suddenly a baby no more.

And I’m okay with this. I am in fact loving this stage–this age–more than anything. I am embracing it with full on passion, wondering how I ever lived without her.

I am in love.

Naked rain and all. 😉

And what about you?? What age/stage is your own little one in right now? I would love to hear about any funny or lovely story you have!

  1. Middle is turning 13 in a couple months and I have always loved that age. He is learning what He likes and dislikes, picking his favorite genre of books, growing exponentially. We were talking about something the other day-a problem that has been going on lately-and he looked at me with his big brown eyes and said, “Mom, if you need support, you know I’m here to support you.” I actually, really felt my breath catch. When did my sweet little guy get so mature? I fell in love all over again. Adolescent hormones and all. 🙂

  2. Mine is two, and talking and more every day. He’s discovering new phrases, some good (“good morning, mommy!” Yelled even at 6:30 in the morning is the cutest thing) and some not so great (“I no like it at all” about something that he’s already eaten half of). But it’s amazing just to watch his personality develop. He’s really turning into a loving and helpful little guy and I absolutely love it.
